Ideal Automotive’s mission is to keep your vehicle safe and reliable on the road. This is why we recommend a spring preventative maintenance visit just as your home’s AC manufacturer does. There are a handful of things we like to check each spring in all of our customers’ cars, trucks, and SUVs. Here’s what they are and why you should let us give your vehicle a spring automotive maintenance service.
Air Conditioner
Like we said above, your home’s air conditioner should be serviced every spring before the weather gets hot and your automobile’s AC is no different. Although we don’t get as hot as they do in, say, Las Vegas, you’ll still want your AC on in the car when the mercury rises in July and August. A spring check ensures you have plenty of clean refrigerant and no system leaks or compressor trouble.
Battery
Our cold winters wreak havoc on your vehicle’s battery. The chemical reactions that help your battery work are slowed down in cold weather and, as a consequence, the battery works harder to power your car, truck, or SUV. With the battery already in a weakened state from winter weather, it’s easier for summer weather to drain your battery of its fluids and corrode it. We’ll check your battery’s health now.
Motor Oil
Your automobile’s engine oil also worked pretty hard during the frigid winter months and it’s time for an oil change. Summer weather heats your engine and it must work harder to stay cooler. It isn’t just the cooling system that keeps your engine cool; it’s also the motor oil. A lube, oil, and filter will help your engine stay cool in the summer because the motor oil lubricates the engine’s parts better.
Radiator
Speaking of the cooling system, spring is the perfect time to have a radiator inspection. We’ll check the radiator itself to make sure it isn’t corroded and at risk of leaking. We’ll also test your cooling system’s thermostat and fan to make sure they’re working. Finally, we’ll inspect the cooling system seals and hoses to help you avoid leaks and flush and refill your radiator will new coolant if necessary.
Tires
Finally, winter also wreaks havoc on your tires. Between road salt and tire chains, your tires have had a rough several months. We’ll inspect your tires to make sure they aren’t worn down too much. Tires become a hazard if they are bald or if the tread has worn down unevenly. Spring is the perfect time for a new set of tires if you need one because hot summer roads are rough on tire tread.
