Signs I Need My Fuel Injectors Cleaned By a Professional

We here at Ideal Automotive understand there are fuel injector cleaners sold over the counter, but we want to stress that these cleaners are not as effective as professional cleanings. The fuel injectors get clogged by carbon deposits caused by your engine’s combustion. At some point, this will affect the flow of fuel into the combustion chamber, and, consequently, you will experience one or more of the following problems listed below.

A Misfiring Engine

If your engine is stuttering, especially at higher speeds, it is misfiring and this misfiring is being caused by fuel starvation. Your vehicle needs just the right amount of fuel and air in the combustion chamber to run efficiently. If the fuel injectors cannot provide the correct amount of fuel, the balance between the two is thrown off and your engine will misfire as a result.

The Idling Will Be Rough, Too

Unfortunately, this imbalance will also cause your vehicle to idle roughly. You will feel it sputter and shake when you are sitting at a stop. This, again, can be attributed to fuel starvation caused by the fuel injector’s inability to spray the correct amount of fuel into the combustion chamber. You will continue to have this idling problem until you get the fuel injectors cleaned.

A Reduction in Fuel Economy

Because your engine is running inefficiently, it will blow through your gasoline or diesel fuel more quickly. Another thing that can cause a reduction in your fuel economy tied to the fuel injectors is if they crack and start to leak. When this happens, the engine burns away the leaking fuel.

Your Tachometer Needle Is Dancing

A steady stream of fuel into the combustion chamber keeps your engine’s RPMs steady. An unsteady stream of fuel can make the RPMs increase and decrease sporadically. When this happens, you will notice that the needle on your tachometer will dance up and down because of the fluctuating RPMs. Fuel injectors that are clogged can cause all kinds of trouble, can’t they?

Your Car Cannot Start

Finally, if you aren’t getting any gasoline sprayed into the combustion chamber, you won’t be able to get your car, truck, or UV started. Unfortunately, this is a sign that the fuel injectors have clogged up completely with carbon deposits. The only way to restore their function is to let us clean away the carbon deposits by decoking your engine.
